Week in Review: 24th Feb - 2nd Mar

Monday

  • Woke up to look after Milo. We went for a nice walk together. Bumped into Ella’s brother and his partner who were walking their dog.
  • Made some more progress on greatFrontend.com. In the evening I completed one of the code excercises. I need to get a better understanding of the this keyword in JavaScript.
  • Spent the day trying to fix my work laptop again. On the phone to IT for most of the day.
  • Went to visit another potential nursery for Milo. I liked it, Tash preferred the one we visited a few weeks ago.
  • Went for a run in the evening, just to get some fresh air. Did a couple of stair sprints which felt good.
  • Tash cooked a lovely dinner and then I spent a bit more time on greatFrontend.com before bed.

Tuesday

  • Milo and I went for our morning walk. It was chaos just before we left but he fell asleep eventually.
  • Got ready for work and cycled in.
  • Most of the day messaging IT and on calls trying to get laptop to work. No one can fix it.
  • Gym session on my own today as James is away. Felt good to get a leg workout in.
  • Cycled home and then went for a walk to the shops with Tash and Milo. He cried 50% of the way. I bought some compost for sowing seeds. It was fun pushing the pram + compost up the hill home.
  • The usual evening routine of dinner, bath, bed for Milo.
  • I downloaded cursos and had a play around with it. I tried the AI agent feature which was very impressive initially but clearly still has a long way to go. It got stuck trying to resolve a module import. Scratch that, The AI agent is insane!

Wednesday

  • Forgot how the day started… Probably spent some time with Milo before work.
  • got a new laptop at work.
  • Went for a walk at lunchtime with some of the AIhub team.
  • Cycled home and spent some time with Tash and Milo. We think he is at peak crying since he is now 6 weeks old and it is supposed to peak at 6-8 weeks.
  • Wanted to run but didn’t have time as we headed to Sandy and Sugars for dinner.
  • Lovely to see them and Ella.
  • I demonstrated my A skips and B skipes. Everyone found it very amusing.
  • Home and bed. Another busy day.

Thursday

  • Tash had an earlier start this morning so I looked after Milo in bed whiilst she got ready.
  • Had breakfast and then cycled into work.
  • Spent the day getting my new laptop sorted.
  • Went for a lovely run in Wollaton park at lunchtime. It was a beautiful day. Fitness definitely not where it was but it felt good to be out.
  • Stuggling to help get work across the line without a working laptop.
  • Cycled home and had a tea with Tash and Milo. He was very fussy this evening.
  • Went food shopping and then had dinner.
  • Took Milo for a walk and called Yuri. Was great to catchup with him.
  • Bed.

Friday

  • Took Milo for a pre-work walk.
  • Worked from home. Took most of the morning to get my dev environment setup on my new laptop takig database backups etc.
  • Went for a quick pre-lunch walk with Tash and Milo to tbe bakery.
  • Mostly helping out with MRs and rubber ducking in the afternoon to help fix a bug.
  • Did a Zwift race with Hugh in the evening. Held on to the peloton for dear life including pushing through a cramp in both legs. Didn’t manage a sprint finish but happy to hold on for so long.
  • Chilled in the evening and then went to pick Charlie and Krish up from the station around half 11.
  • Introduce Milo to them and then went to bed.

Saturday

  • Slept a bit less than usual as I didn’t sleep in the spare room. Tash looked after Milo when he was up in the night. Pretty amazing what she does, and how she manages with such little sleep!
  • Slow start to the day and then make a cooked breakfast for everyone.
  • Went for a walk around the park to show Charlie and Krish the area.
  • Picked up take away dinner from La Storia.
  • Drove to Wollaton park and went for a walk around the lake. It was a beautiful day, saw some deer and had a nice time.
  • Came home and had dinner.
  • Watched Hidden figures. Great film, shocking to see how even some of the smartest people at NASA were segregated by race and sex.

Sunday

  • Tough night with Milo, he seems to have a bit of a cold. I took him in the morning so that Tash could get some sleep.
  • Caught up on daily notes for the week and went for a walk. Weather so nice I sat in one of the circles and just closed my eyes for a bit.
  • Successfully bottle fed Milo for a bit. Then cooked breakfast for everyone.
  • Walked into town with Charlie, Krish Tash and Milo. We had a coffee at Cobden Place.
  • Walked home, cooked lunch and dropped Charlie and Krish off at the station. Really nice to seem them, and for them to meet Milo.
  • Spent the afternoon and early evening in the garden with Anthony and Saria. We cut back loads of bushes and weeded the rocker. Anthony suggested we had a bonfire which I wasn’t opposed to. We generated a little more smoke than anticipated but it was fun.
  • Tash cooked dinner and then we watched another episode of Black Doves before bed.
