Week in Review: 10th Feb - 16th Feb

Monday

  • Much better night with Milo. He’s 4 weeks old now so we gave him a dummy when putting him down in his cot. Seemed to work very well.
  • Slow start to the morning, rode on Zwift for an hour and then cooked lunch.
  • Spent the afternoon hanging out with Tash and Milo and catching up on emails/job applications.

Tuesday

  • Woke up to a rejection email for a job I was quite excited about. Frustrating again to fall at the first interview, I thought it went ok. The structure was terrible and didn’t cater to my strengths. Still, there are things I know I need to work on. There is a base level of knowledge that I should just know.
  • Drove to Ikea to return a drawer unit we didn’t end up using.
  • Came home and had lunch with Tash and Milo. We put him in the bigger chest harness and he loves it.
  • Worked on my personal website a bit. The Nextra docs are terrible, I’m struggling to get the exact layout I need, the indexing is very confusing and its really unclear how the meta files should be used to modify the project structure. I’d like to create an all posts and tags page but it will have to wait.
  • Went to start work in the garden, cleared some weeds and cut the raspberry bush back. Felt really nice to be down there again, getting my hands muddy. Always feels grounding to reconnect with the earth.

Wednesday

  • Decent night with Milo, only up a few times to settle him.
  • Went for a run in the morning, knee starting to feel a bit tender around km 6/7. Need to keep doing my physio excercises.

Thursday

  • Day started early, took over from Tash looking after Milo around half 6 this morning. He is usually away around this time and doesn’t like to go back to sleep. We mostly chilled, bouncing around.
  • Walked in to town with Tash and Milo to get bread from Tough Mary’s, then went to East West to grab a hot chocolate. Ventured a bit further into John lewis for some baby vest as Milo is already growing out of his.
  • Walked home via the Arboretum and then went to visit a potential Nursery for Milo. All the staff were very nice and the kids there seemed happy. It was a bit sad to think that in a few months we would be dropping him off every day.
  • Had a late lunch when we got home, and then I rode the bike in the late afternoon. Dropped hard on a cat c ride trying to hang on to one of the front groups, still happy with my effort. Had a quick chat to Hugh who was also riding.
  • Ate dinner with Tash and then jumped into bed. Milo still very much awake..

Friday

  • Took Milo for a walk this morning whilst Tash caught up on sleep.
  • Breakfast, life admin, talking to recruiter.
  • Trip to Lidl for a big shop.
  • Lunch and a “nap” with Milo that involved no napping.
  • Did some online shopping for seeds, and other bits and bobs for the house.

Saturday

  • Woke up up and took Milo for a short walk
  • Made pancakes and got ready for the day.
  • Mikey, Ciara and Chewie came over and we went for a walk, Ella and Hanna also joined. Had a pub lunch, Milos first time at the pub, everyone thoroughly enjoyed his company.
  • Mikey and Ciara walked back with us and came over for tea, we played trivial pursuit and hidden in plain sight causing hysterics.
  • I cooked dinner for us and then we watched Black Doves before bed, episode 1 was good. Impressive how they have managed to make London look immaculate.

Sunday

  • Milo woke up later this morning so we had a later start to the day. Made breakfast, flapjacks and tidied the house.
  • Walked to Sainsburys with Tash and Milo.
  • Tash’s granny and grandad, aunty Anna and cousin Olivia arrived to visit Milo.
  • Spent the day hanging out with Milo and the rest of the family. Had a quick walk past Robin hood and then went to pick up curry.
  • Watched another episode of Black Doves and then went to bed, tired after another busy weekend.
